Whole dried pinto, black, and Mayocoba beans
Whole dried pinto, black, and Mayocoba beans

My family eats beans- a lot. They are a favorite simple and delicious staple in our home. They are also super cheep and easy to make. My favorite way to cook them is in the crockpot. Not only is it easy to put together, it’s also an easy clean up and leaves the house smelling amazing all day.

Here’s the recipe:

16 ounces Mayocoba, pinto, or black beans

48 ounces water

2 tsp pink Himalayan sea salt

1/2 tsp ground black pepper

1/2 tsp granulated garlic

1/2 tsp granulated onion

1 tsp cumin

2-3 bay leaves

1/2 tbsp organic better than bouillon roasted chicken base

Instructions:

Rinse beans. Add all ingredients into crockpot. Cook on low heat for 6 hours. Enjoy as is or use food processor/blender to blend into refried beans. Blend in 10-15 second intervals to preferred texture. Another option for more texture is to take out 1/2 cup - 1 cup of beans before blending and add back in after.

There are so many ways to enjoy these beans, either alone or paired with meals.
